Four Things Not to Ask Your Landscape Architect
When it comes to picking out a landscape architect, like any other professional, there are a few things that you probably shouldn't ask a landscape architect. So, with humorous intent, keep these small things in mind!
Can A Leaf Blower Vacuum?
This is a silly question, but something that a landscape architect would hear all the time. After all, why shouldn't it be able to?! But, the fact of the matter is that not all models do. There are a few, but they're considered to be...well, not quite as good as others. However, this also depends on the leaf blower of choice as well. Most of the time, however, leaf blowers are simply that. There are a very few leaf blower vacuums—but not all that many.
Can You Design My Hedges to Look Like...?
Depending on the landscape architect, maybe. However, if they have the talent, they'll definitely showcase it! The fact of the matter is that this takes a lot of time, a lot of maintenance, and it probably costs significantly more than just having your hedges trimmed up—so much that you'd probably need them cut every week. Needless to say, you might just want to opt for regular old hedges as opposed to something fancy and intricate—since, well...it's harder on you and the landscape architect.
How Do You Like the Work?
This isn't offensive to the landscape architect...but it can be a bit of a long answer. Some days, they might not have many clients...others, they might be packed. And still, they might have to deal with a lot of problems while designing someone's yard, such as dogs, dog droppings...random birds that might nest in inappropriate spots or go after anyone nearby... Needless to say, they have a pretty rough job!
Would you like...?
If you're going to offer food to your landscape architect, stick to really, really light foods and cooling, refreshing drinks. Lemonade probably isn't a better option than lemon, although it will help them to stay hydrated. Instead of cookies or brownies, offer them a light salad and maybe one small dessert. This is especially important if it's really hot outside. When it's cold, stick to warm—but not extremely hot—liquids. While it may not seem likely, you can heat up pretty badly in the winter as well.
These are just a few things to keep in mind regarding landscape architects.
